With heartfelt sadness, we announce the passing of Jerry McKay, who left this world on July 10, 2025, at the age of 60.
Born on June 10, 1965, in Chicago, Illinois, Jerry was the son of the late James and Bessie McKay. A proud graduate of Romeoville High School, he played basketball for the team and lived with rambunctious strength, passion, and heart.
Jerry went on to serve his country honorably in the National Guard, where his sense of duty, courage, and commitment to service shined. Whether in uniform, in his community, or at home with his loved ones, Jerry carried himself with honor and humility.
He was a devoted husband to his loving wife, Joaney, and a proud father to Jerry McKay (wife Dianne), Noah Walters, Jemeshia Mills (husband Chris),Isaiah McKay and God-daughter Detrice Moore.His family was the center of his world, and he poured his heart into every role he held—as a father, a husband, a brother, Uncle, Cousin and friend.
Jerry is survived by his beloved siblings: Sandra, Sharon, Michael, Jayne, and John. He was preceded in death by his cherished siblings: Virginia, Daisy, Joe, Vicky, Cedric, Jimmy, and Linda. He also leaves behind five adored grandchildren, and a surplus of nieces and nephews, all of whom brought him endless joy and love.
Those who knew Jerry will forever remember his kindness, his steady presence, and the way he made people feel seen, heard, and loved. He was a wonderful man with a rambunctious strength and a generous soul.
Though he has left this earthly life, Jerry’s legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. His love, laughter, and example will never be forgotten.
Rest in peace, Jerry McKay. Your life touched many, and your memory will forever remain.
