Carmen Rosa, age 91 born on December 10, 1932, in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico has passed away peacefully to be with the LORD on December 2, 2024, in Winter Park, Florida. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, known for her warmth and generosity. Carmen met her husband, Tomas Rosa, in her hometown, and they embarked on a life journey together that took them from Puerto Rico to Chicago in the early 1950s. There, they joined her cousin and best friend, Modesta Matos. Carmen initially worked in a restaurant owned by friends before moving to New York at the invitation of Tomas's aunt. A few years later, the couple settled in Maynard, Massachusetts, where Carmen worked diligently in a machine shop, eventually rising to the position of supervisor. After 35 years in Massachusetts, Carmen and Tomas retired to Orlando, Florida, in 1988, where they spent another three decades together. Carmen was renowned for her compassion and hospitality, always opening her home to family and those in need. Her large extended family, spread across Puerto Rico, Massachusetts, New York, Philadelphia and Florida, and was a source of great joy for her. She cherished family gatherings, where her face would light up at the sight of her grandchildren. Following Tomas's passing in 2018, Carmen lived independently, actively participating in her Pentecostal church on North Pine Hills Road and maintaining close friendships, she loved GOD, her Pastors Rodriquez and church family very dearly. Her daughter, Gloria Ortiz, moved to Florida in 2022 to care for her. Carmen spent her final year at Regents Park Nursing and Rehabilitation in Winter Park. She is survived by her sister, Rosa Garcia; her children, Gloria Ortiz, David Irrizarry, and Thomas Rosa Jr.; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Carmen's legacy of love and kindness will be fondly remembered by all who knew her.
