WHITNEY, Billie J. 90, of Orlando went to be with her Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ, on Thursday
morning, May 29, 2025, following an extended period living with Alzheimer’s disease. She was born in
Princess Anne, VA, the daughter of the late Arthur Richard and Grace Virginia (Powell) Gray. In 1978 she
moved to Central Florida from Massachusetts and was a member of the Church at the Cross. She spent
most of her life raising her seven children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord, smiling, loving and
serving each one of them and their beautiful families. After raising her family she worked at Disney
World for 15 years and loved the work and meeting people. She was a testimony for Jesus to every
person she came in contact with, showing the depth of her love and concern for others. Billie has now
joined her husband, M. Leigh Whitney, Jr. in heaven to dwell in the house of the Lord forever, and leaves
behind to carry on the Lord’s service her seven children; daughters, Cheryl (Glenn) Harmon of
Melbourne, B.J. (Pete) Zubli of Tangerine, Ginny (Jim) Michalski of Jacksonville; sons, Jim (Kathy)
Whitney of Hancock, NH, Rick (May) Whitney of Mascotte, Tom (Sarah) Whitney of Winter Garden,
David (Brittany) Whitney of Winter Garden, FL; sister Judy (Rick) Scott of Melbourne; 23 grandchildren,
42 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild, and several nieces and nephews.
Her family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to Jaime and his staff at New Melody Senior
Living, Orlando, for all their love, care and support.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association (https://www.alz.org/).
A celebration of Billie’s life will be held June 1, 2025, 3:00 PM at The Crossing Church of South Lake,
